Our Network

Our Vision

We envision a racially just, community-centered education system that supports every child with equitable access to safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environments, ensuring all children in Oregon are empowered to grow into thriving global citizens.

Our Purpose

To support the conditions statewide at all levels of policymaking (state to school) for impacted communities’ involvement in the development and implementation of equitable and inclusive education policy that center children and families who are directly affected by systemic inequality and experience disparities in educational outcomes.

Our Commitment

OPEJ explicitly centers the people most impacted by systemic inequities and injustice in our coalition’s shared leadership. We are Indigenous, Black, and people of color, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, religious minorities, women, and LGBTQIA2S+ advocates, each representing distinct communities and perspectives and all working together around shared values to ensure the needs of children directly impacted by educational disparities are centered in Oregon education policy. All OPEJ members make a collective commitment to the principles of self-determination and recognize these voices as the core of OPEJ’s shared leadership.
